The Vastlite Minima Bow LEP 16340 Torch is a compact, high-performance flashlight designed for those who value portability without compromising on brightness or beam quality. At just 71 mm in length and weighing only 56 grams with battery, it stands as one of the smallest and lightest LEP (Light Emitting Phosphor) flashlights available on the market today—ideal for everyday carry (EDC), emergency kits, or as a lightweight backup light on multi-day hikes and camping trips.

Despite its diminutive size, the Minima Bow delivers impressive performance. It runs on a single 16340 battery (USB-C rechargeable), which fits snugly within the body and powers a high-efficiency LEP module. The light uses a "shine-through" or backlit LEP design, where the LED is positioned behind a phosphor layer, resulting in a smooth, even beam with no blue center spot or visible artifacts. This gives the beam a natural, balanced appearance.

The flashlight features a twisty switch system, a rare choice for such a small form factor. Tightening the head against the body turns the light on, and loosening it slightly turns it off. Retightening cycles between high and low modes, with a 3-second window to switch—more than sufficient for practical use. After a 3-second delay, the light reverts to the last used mode, ensuring reliability even after brief interruptions. 

The head is protected by a thin, screw-in bezel with fine knurling, providing added protection for the front lens. Four slots around the head allow for the optional installation of glow-in-the-dark tubes or tritium vials—perfect for night visibility or emergency use in complete darkness. While the glow tubes are not self-powered, they add a distinctive aesthetic and functional touch for those who enjoy customising their gear.

Beam performance is solid for its size. The high mode delivers a beam distance of 750 meters, while the low mode maintains 310 meters. Although it doesn’t match the extreme throw of larger 18650 or 21700 LEP flashlights, the beam is exceptionally focused and efficient, making it highly effective for tasks requiring precision and brightness in a compact package.

The build quality is excellent for its size. The aluminium body is precision-machined with tight tolerances, and the twist mechanism operates smoothly without play. The inclusion of two O-rings ensures a reliable seal against dust and moisture, enhancing durability in variable outdoor conditions.
